STRETCH CEILINGS – contemporary ceiling design. Ceilings, which win great popularity in new buildings.
Stretch ceiling is a type of closed suspended ceiling, which consists of two main components: perimeter profile and lightweight polyvinylchloride material or PVC-ceiling, which is tightened and fixed on the special mounting profiles. Air in the room is heated to 50-60 ͦ C, then the special PVC plastic will be set on the profiles. PVC plastic achieves a particular elasticity when heated. The plastic flattens, tightens, when the room starts to cool down, and becomes more rigid.
We get a smooth, wrinkle-free surface. Stretch ceiling with its perfectly smooth surface disguises the building constructions and utility systems. Stretch ceilings are elastic and „play along“ with different structural changes (cracks, sags etc.) that evolve over time, maintaining the quality and shape of the ceiling. To the stretch ceiling can be installed different lightings, sensors, ventilation openings, access hatches and other ceiling-mounted elements.
Horizontal plane stretch ceiling may be of any shape – rectangular, round or oval, up to the most complex shapes. It is also possible to create multilevel forms, to make a stretch ceiling „undulate“ and form the smooth bendings.
Quickness of the installation due to the fact that the stretch ceiling, which is cutted out in accordance of the room measurements, will be installed in one piece. Fast and safe installation, minimal amount of construction debris, ecologically pure raw material – these are just some keywords of stretch ceilings specialty. The great advantage of the stretch ceiling is that if there will be a water damage upstairs, then the water collects on the stretch ceiling, without damaging the ceiling, floor and interior fittings. If the installer has eliminated water damage, the original shape of the stretch ceiling will be restored.
The ceiling may be damaged by sharp objects, which can make a hole or scratches in it. Blunt instruments do not affect the ceiling. If the ceiling is damaged (by cut or a pierce), cover the damaged area with tape and call the installer. The stretch ceiling can not tolerate temperatures below -5 ͦ C ( the plastic may crack) and above +65 ͦ C.
PVC stretch ceilings are also called „French“ suspended ceilings, because they were used for the first time in France about 20 years ago. Then began their triumph. Initially the stretch ceilings became popular in France, later throughout Europe, but now in the whole world.
Stretch ceilings are very long lasting – material guarantee is 10 years!
